There are two types of SEO.

On-site SEO is basically everything you do on your actual website. So this will include things like titles, headings, alt tags and also the content within your webpages.

Off-site SEO is essentially everything outside your actual website.

So for instance it would be getting links from other websites to your website. It would be links from your social media. Links from blogs. You can improve your off-site SEO by setting up social media such as YouTube, Facebook and Twitter.

In this SEO tips, I explain the difference between what is called on-site and off-site SEO factors. This is also known as on-page and off-page.

Now firstly on-site SEO. That basically relates to anything you do within your actual website and in the video are some examples. It’s not an exclusive list but these are some of the important ones.
There’s things like your domain name. Ideally you should have your keyword phrase within your domain name. So, my training website for SEO is called, so it has a domain name with the keywords embedded within it.

Now probably the most important on-site SEO factor of all, is the title, the HTML title. This can make the difference between good SEO and basically not being found. So even if you get this right but totally mess up everything else, you’ve still got a shot at being on the first page, that’s how important the title is.

So, there is a video on these various bits and pieces. As I say, the most important one of all is the HTML title.

Probably next in importance will be things like ‘Alt tags’, ‘Headings’ and ‘Anchor Text’. Those are probably the three most important ones after the Title.
